Personal Narrative

4 Days of My Summer Break 2015 at Sinait, Ilocos Sur

One week before April 30, my older brother and I were invited by my Uncle to have a 4-day mini vacation at their house in Sinait, Ilocos Sur, because of the upcoming feast and without any hesitation, we accepted the invitation. Maybe 4 days was too short, it was like a blink of an eye, but it worth the days. We travelled for almost 8 hours, Manila- Ilocos Sur, it was tiring yet so excited. As we arrived at the terminal, on the 31st of April, my Aunt, Uncle and cousins were the ones who accompanied us. Right after that, my Uncle drove and stop in the mini cafeteria. It’s already lunch time and we decided to eat. We tasted the mouthwatering authentic food that the Ilocano’s are proud of like Pinakbet, Liempo, Fried TIlapia and most especially my favorite the empanda and chichacorn for desert.

Everyone was so excited for the Festival of Garlic in the town on the first of May. A lot of Ilocanos were walking around the city, talking and having fun with other Ilocanos. There were like ants with their hairdressers.  There were booths for exhibit, different stalls for the variety activities. A parade of beauties, the ladies who won in Bb. Sinait 2015, the Ilocanians who wore their different color to represent their Barangay and the bands who led the parade. The variety of games for kids held in the complex. We had a lot of fun and enjoyment watching the dancers and taking photos with my relatives.
My Uncle brought us to Cabangatalan Beach, on the second day of May. It was an entrance free beach there, you could experience the white fine sand and the tall lighthouse. The beach was incredible than what we expected. You could hear the different family or group of friends singing there heart out loud on videoke. The grilled chicken and liempos’ smell would make you hungry. And you could see the drawn smiles in their faces like what we had.

On the third day of May, we visited our relatives in paternal side. We had catch up moments and stories we laughed on. A great time to share some stories with them, it’s been a long years since that day and I feel bliss every time I remember.  Later than that it’s already 5pm in the afternoon when we decided to go home. On our way home, we passed through a Carnival and my Uncle invited us to go inside. It was not my first time to see a carnival, but it felt different that night. Tons of stalls for money games, lots of rides at the corners, a lot of families holding their children and having fun. And it was my first to ride in a Ferris wheel, it was one of the memorable moment for me. I felt like my soul was left in the air.

Our last day in Sinait Ilocos Sur, was on the fourth day of May. It was the time to say goodbye! The four days in staying there was a memorable and treasurable experience and moment for us. It like a half of my life was reborn. I gained a lot of new stories and information about my father's family. And if chances would offer me, I wanted to go back again soon.
